Accessibility Statement

We want this site to work for everyone who needs it, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard or a magnifier. Here is where we stand and how to tell us when we get it wrong.

What we are aiming for

We build and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, at Level AA. That is the standard most public bodies in the United States are measured against, and it is the one we hold ourselves to here.

Accessibility is not a box we tick once. Pages change, content gets added, and things break. The practical commitment is that we check this site against those guidelines when we change it, and that we fix what gets reported to us.

What has been done

Specific things built into this site rather than general intentions:

  • Every page starts with a "Skip to Main Content" link so keyboard users are not forced through the whole navigation on each page.
  • The site is built with semantic HTML, which means one main heading per page and a sensible heading order underneath it, so a screen reader can move through a page by structure.
  • Every image carries alternative text describing what it shows, and images that are purely decorative are marked so screen readers skip them instead of reading out a filename.
  • Text and interface colors are checked for contrast against the background they sit on. Links that sit inside a block of text are underlined, not just colored, so they can be picked out without relying on color vision.
  • Everything on the site can be operated with a keyboard, and whatever has focus shows a visible outline so you can see where you are.
  • Form fields carry real labels rather than relying on placeholder text, which disappears the moment you start typing.
  • Animation respects your system setting. If you have asked your device to reduce motion, the scroll effects on this site do not run.
  • Pages are built to work at phone width without horizontal scrolling and to stay readable when text is enlarged.

Known limitations

Two things we would rather state plainly than let you discover:

  • The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out automated spam. Turnstile is designed to be accessible and usually resolves without any interaction, but it is a third party component we do not control. If it ever blocks you, call us at (407) 504-0877 and we will take your information over the phone.
  • Parts of this site link out to other organizations, including government and court websites. We cannot control how accessible those are.

If something does not work

Tell us. A specific report is far more useful than a general one, so if you can, say which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what you were using at the time, such as a particular screen reader or browser.

Call (407) 504-0877 during office hours, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hablamos español. You can also write to us at 10244 East Colonial Drive, Suite 113, Orlando, Florida 32817.

We aim to respond within 12 hours, the same as any other inquiry. If the fix is going to take longer than that, we will tell you what we are doing and arrange another way to get you what you needed in the meantime. Nobody should have to wait for a website to be fixed before they can get help with their documents.
